10/9/2008 Stuyvesant Town Board Meeting Highlights
Reading of Communications
- There were two letters read on the topic of the CSX bridge, one in support of reopening it, and one against.
Budget Amendment
- Transfer of $8300 from general fund to various (assessor, playgrounds, mowing, etc.)
- Transfer $60k to highway fund for general repairs and improvements
Trash Day
Reports
Planning/Zoning Board Report
- Site plan review for turkey shooting preserve; Public hearing 10/27.
Greenway Committee
- Public Hearing on Saturday 10/1110AM-Noon at the Town Hall, on Waterways, Natural and Cultural Resources
- A second public hearing/input meeting will be held, focusing on economic development and agriculture. Date TBD.
Rail Station Committee Report
- Halloween Event: Kids movie early & Rocky Horror Picture Show later
- Grant update
- $1000 handed in from fundraising, including $400 from Marilyn's pie sale at the Columbia County Bounty Chili Cookoff
- Kudos to Marilyn for Farmers Market success!
Town Hall Halloween Party for Kids, 10/25, 1-3PM
Rec Committee
- Trail work scheduled for 10/18 at Ken Hummel Memorial Park.
- There is a sign for the park! (It looks great!) Needs to be installed.
- Next Rec Committee meeting Saturday 11/1, 9AM.
Quadricentennial - Calendar with vintage photos in progress. Celebration events planned for 9/19 & 9/20/2008.
Old Business
Schoolhouse Road Bridge Discussion
- No reply to letters sent to elected officials by the town.
- Ideas for leverage with CSX: possibility for class action suit, making it an at-grade crossing.
Air Monitor
- Stuyvesant Town Hall parking lot is the likely air monitor location.
- Timing: 1st quarter 2009
2009 Budget
- Highway budget will increase 10.78% due to increase in prices for supplies and materials.
- No increase in general fund thus far.
- 11/20 is the deadline for formal adoption of 2009 budget.
- Budget workshop: Saturday 11/8 8AM
- Budget public hearing: Monday 11/17 6:30PM
Wind Energy public hearing set for Thursday 11/13 6:30PM
New business
Planning (1) and Zoning (2) Boards both need new members and alternates, as do various committees. Contact Valerie Bertram if interested.
Animal Control: Animals taken to Humane Society can cost town $300 each; discuss alternatives for boarding in town or using another shelter.
