Assessment Report Assessment Report(9.9M) Supervisor Valerie Bertram Calls on Catherine Knott who works in the Stuyvesant Assessor’s Office. After the short report Val talks about the state of NY finding the town is overassessed by about 4% (We are at 104% assessment). Val has decided to correct this error in our assessments by lowing everyone's assessment by 5% and then increasing the tax rate. As it turns out ; all things being equal; leaving our assessment at 104% or lowering the assessed amount have the same effect on our county and school taxes. The amount of the difference is about 7 million dollars. In my opinion a better solution would be to search for mistakes in the inventory and correct them. |
Town Passes Resolution to study building a salt shed This will likely will become act to borrow 1/2 a million dollars. |
Mike Naegeli asks questions about the Resolution to fund the Study to Build a Salt Shed. This will result in a bond for $535,000 (1/2 a million dollars). Sean Cummings asks a few questions. Then I (Martin Roby) asks about the GE Money. I have read GE agreement and It clearly does state the money has to be used for water front related projects. I suggest that Maybe doing the work needed to Ferry road to keep our access would count. Val does not seem interested in trying. (22M) |
Highway Superintendent We have to pick up tickets for trash day. 4 tires per household. Town of Stuyvesant will recover $17,727 from the storm (to be spent on a Gradall). Highway Superintendent Kowalski asks the town to buy a Gradall so he can mine sand on lower Lang road. An also a mower so the Highway Department can do yardwork in the Cemetery. Both Resolutions pass. Councilman Ed Scott says this is a no brainer. One must wonder if the town should be getting into the mining business. Lang road is located off 9J. (10M) |

GreenwayA meeting on May 19th (Thursday) at 7:00 pm to present findings about land development. Ron seems to want to open the area around Mr. Pflaums's home and business for rapid , highly dense development. One has to wonder if this is motivation for the oppression Mr. Pfluam's been suffering lately. (2.7M) |
Historian Pro printers has been awarded a (no-bid) contract for $3,155 to print up books for the History of the Town of Stuyvesant. Ron Knott says to do the 250 book contract, then Ed Scott makes the motion. Valerie Bertram talks about historic Stuyvesant Day. (9.3M) |
